Sheikha Lubna's Legacy

The contributions of Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi as the first woman to be appointed at a cabinet position in the United Arab Emirates are considerably important. Her legacy will prompt more women to take charge and rise up and take leadership in fields that women would normally not participate in because of stereotypes.

Sheikha Lubna Al Qaismi had provided plenty of contributions to her legacy which had eventually led to empowering loads of Emirati women. The types of contributions Sheikha Lubna had implemented to her legacy were such as, being the first woman to be in charge of managing the newly merged economy. Even winning awards such as, “Distinguished Government Employee Award” in 1999 had shown what she had done for her legacy and shown other young Emirati women that despite what people have said about females in the past, She put all of that aside and went for her goals, therefore inspiring girls to do the same in the present and the future, she also inspired many more women to rise up to the challenges and disregard any stereotypes.

Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi’s legacy has been often described as similar to Sheikh Zayed’s legacy. This is because of her contributions to the United Arab Emirates both locally and globally. She developed a system that, according to arabianbusiness.com, “slashed cargo turnaround times at Dubai airport”. She also founded Tejari, which was the Middle East’s first online marketplace. She was then later appointed as the minister of economy and planning, in November 2004. She is now the minister of tolerance and has been since 2017. Her continuous support for women and her achievements show her legacy and the impact it will have on women in the future. Her accomplishments not only show that women can be empowered, but they also show that women can do an excellent job and achieve their dreams and goals. As the first woman to be a member of cabinet in the United Arab Emirates. 

Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi is also known for her innovative ideas and problem-solving skills which eventually led to the United Arab Emirates being propelled to new heights. Her problem-solving skills are evident as she has been promoted to various different posts in the cabinet. Her most recent promotion was in November 2017 as the minister of tolerance. She is perfect for this as her problem-solving skills, outside of the box thinking and innovative ideas can make the United Arab Emirates even more diverse than it already is, and help people living to accept the diversity of people living in the United Arab Emirates.
